We were bird-sitting Puri & Bode for my sister, Sari, while she was away in the east coast for the holidays. Puri must have been depressed and missing her mom. Unfortunately, on our watch, Puri, the pure white female budgerigar, passed away and left Bode, the blue male budgerigar, all alone. She was only about 2 years old. I panicked and immediately went to the pet store to ask the bird experts for advice. They assured me that it was nothing we specifically did or did not do. Unlike lovebirds, I apparently did not have to immediately get Bode a new partner. I had them cremate Puri. I then called my sister to break the bad news.
